Conference News for October 22, 2009
WEEK IN REVIEW:
Congratulations, you have all survived the first week of Block 5! Thanks for everyone’s participation in last week’s multiple educational events.
Last Wednesday, we received an excellent synopsis of OBGYN In-Service material from one of our esteemed toxicology fellows Dr. Schwarz. Actively prepping for his own EM Boards, he was poised and ready to tackle this gargantuan task for our blockly review series. His thorough and polished talk was emailed to everyone last week. Thanks Evan for your hard work!
Last week’s Thursday conference was a bundle of fun. We started of with a duo of Case Conferences: the first by Drs. Gregory and Kleinschmidt and the second by Drs. Archie and Nazeer. Next, Dr. Wainscott briefly spoke to us about the upcoming interview season. Finally, we finished conference off with Dr. Tran’s Oral Board Practice. In small, faculty-lead groups, residents took turns doing both single and triple cases in oral board format. We will have two more of these sessions this academic year.
Immediately after conference, we had Chief’s Conference. The bulk of the time was spent flushing out resident questions and concerns. These concerns were voiced to the residency leadership.
