Conference News for September 24, 2009
WEEK IN REVIEW:
For the disoriented few, we are in the 2nd week of block four. The theme for this block is OBGYN. If you find this information at all surprising, you are not reading your conference news!
Last week’s academic highlights included our blockly in-service review and our weekly academic conference. For the in-service review, Dr. Jones did an encore performance of her conference lecture, this time with enhanced and expanded Rash-O-Rama fun. Almost a third of the residents attended!
Conference last week contained a great mix of educational adventures.
We started with a lecture on the complications of pregnancy by Dr. Moore. Bring on the perimortem c-sections, her lecture taught us everything we need to know… except self-continence. Next, we had a twofer (yes, actually a word) of Case Conferences with Drs. Cearley and Pepe and Drs. Nikbakht and Roppolo. In the following lecture, Dr. Derek Kelly, robed in a truly magnificent blazer, gave his Senior Resident Grand Rounds titled, “The Future of Medical Information Technology.” His presentation was exceptional. Conference concluded with Dr. Wainscott discussing some preliminary logistics of the interview season and beyond. The previously planned lecture on vaginal bleed is to be rescheduled.
Immediately following regular Thursday Conference we had Chief’s Conference. The details are classified, so ask a colleague!
