Farewell Old Friend

As the residents and faculty welcome the New Parkland Hospital, we take a few moments to remember an old friend:

"It was a bitter sweet moment and honestly I'll miss the old place. It was our battle ground where I've saved lives, delivered babies, and called time of death. It's where I started my career as an Emergency Medicine physician and I honed my skill. We've outgrown our space but for years this building housed millions of Dallas residents in need. So here's to you Old Parkland, you served us well." - PGY3 Kaiti Severson

"This hospital is where I saw my first patient, where I made my first diagnosis, where I saved my first life, and where I first told a family that their loved one had passed on. Old Parkland, you are far from perfect, but I will always miss you and I will never forget you." - PGY3 J Mack Slaughter

"You were like Elvis. But poorly dressed. And noisier. But you loved alcohol and it eventually killed you. Wait, who are we talking about?" - PGY3 Scott Knepper

One of our EM nurses Bre Ward made a flipagram to memorialize Old Parkland on its last day, be sure to check it out here! Music credit: DJ Tek - See You
